RazorSharks lose Game 2, 95-84, Series tied 1-1

Democrat & Chronicle Staff Report  • 4-26-10

Even the great teams have bad shooting nights, and the Rochester RazorSharks suffered that fate Sunday night.

The Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry rallied from a 10-point deficit in the second quarter and forced a decisive game three in the Premier Basketball League championship series with a 95-84 win over the RazorSharks at the Great Plains Coliseum in Lawton, Okla.

Rochester shot 35 percent from the field compared to the Cavalry's 57 percent. The RazorSharks, who defeated the Cavalry 110-106 on Thursday, will try again for their third consecutive PBL title Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Oklahoma.

The 84 points was the lowest amount scored by Rochester all season. The Cavalry, known for their press defense, also held Rochester to its previous season low of 88 points in the regular season.

Rochester got off to a quick start and led 22-14 after the first quarter. The RazorSharks hit the first basket of the second quarter, but the Cavalry went on a 12-2 run to tie the score. After trading buckets, Jamaal Davis made two free throws to give the Cavalry a 32-30 and Rochester never led again.

The RazorSharks got within three points, 73-70, with 8:45 left, but Lawton-Fort Sill scored nine straight points to take control.

Glen Dandridge led Rochester with 18 points and six rebounds and Keith Friel scored 16 points despite only taking nine shots. Jermaine Tate added 11 points for the RazorSharks.

Elvin Mims scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Brandon Dean finished with 20 points for the Cavalry.

Lawton-Fort Sill was without veteran and former NBA player Oliver Miller, who was suspended the rest of the series for his conduct after Rochester's victory on Thursday.
