The Rochester RazorSharks clinched second place in the Premier Basketball League and a home playoff game Sunday with a 115-104 win against the Puerto Rico Capitanes at the Manuel Coliseum in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
Rochester (16-4), which has won 11 of its last 12 games, will host the Capitanes (14-4) at the Blue Cross Arena in the first round of the playoffs at a date to be determined. The RazorSharks defeated Puerto Rico 113-101 at home in February in the only other meeting between the two teams.
Puerto Rico led 100-99 with 5:10 remaining but the RazorSharks went on a 16-2 run to seal the win. Jermaine Tate began the run with a 15-foot jumper and Keith Friel sank a 3-pointer with two minutes remaining.
Glen Dandridge led Rochester with 24 points and Friel added 23 points. Melvin Council and Eric Walton each finished with 11 points.
Elias Ayuso scored 34 points to lead the Capitanes, who were dismissed from the PBL last month for various reasons before being reinstated last week. |
